The GNC Total Lean meal replacement shake powders come from a long line of GNC products well-known for their quality. This shake, while not loaded with nutrition, contains enough protein to keep you sated and possibly help you lose weight.

Ingredients

This shake is not quite as low-calorie as the name “Total Lean” would have you believe. Coming in at 200 calories per serving, Total Lean shake powders coming in at 200 calories per serving, which is more than its average competitor.

This might make it a bad choice for those counting calories, but it’s not necessarily a bad indicator of possible weight loss. Despite the number of calories, this is a relatively low-sugar and low-carb formula. Its fat content is also reasonable. As it turns out, its calories mostly come from the 25g of protein it contains. Protein is essential to keeping you fuller for longer periods, making this a great meal replacement. All of this means that the Total Lean shakes are still a viable option if you’re looking to lose weight, as evidenced by user reviews.

Total Lean shake powders are, however, high in cholesterol. They don’t contain any superfoods; all in all, they have very little extra nutritional value. These shakes also contain artificial sweeteners. Total Lean formulas are not organic, which is a big deal-breaker for some—but, on the other hand, they also don’t contain any controversial ingredients, which is a plus.

What to Expect

Reviewers across the board report good weight loss results. The consensus also seems to be that Total Lean shakes will sate your hunger impressively well. Some people say they use Total Lean protein shakes as a meal replacement up to twice a day without feeling deprived.

Before purchasing, however, you should be aware of GNC’s packaging practices. The one major complaint that comes up in reviews again and again is that GNC does not pack their containers well. The canisters are consistently packed at about seventy percent. False advertising claims aside, this is simply quite inconvenient if you’re short on space. The canister is already large, but reviewers are consistently disappointed to find out that it’s bulky for no reason. There’s also the matter of the extra plastic waste being generated—never a good thing.

Taste

The GNC Total Lean formulas have consistently good reviews regarding taste. Some find it too sweet, but most consumers seem to enjoy it. There have, however, been some dramatic texture complaints. The chocolate flavor in particular allegedly has a pulpy texture due to the coconut flakes used to flavor it. Other reviewers agree that the formula does not blend well and remains chunky in some way.

Pricing

This meal replacement shake is priced reasonably. It’s not the cheapest shake powder on the market, but it’s certainly not the most expensive.

Conclusion

The GNC Total Lean meal replacement shake powder is a great choice for those looking to lose weight and stay sated throughout the day. While there are several negative things about its formula and lack of nutritional content, its lack of sugar and wealth of protein make it a solid meal replacement choice.
